ANSONIA — Mayor David Cassetti announced the free, full-day music festival ROCK THE VALLEY will return to Ansonia’s Nolan Field 12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24.
This year’s event, presented by the City of Ansonia and the Town of Seymour, will be headlined by XTREME QUEEN: THE LEGACY OF FREDDIE MERCURY, performing a down-to the-details recreation of QUEEN’s famous 1985 Live Aid Festival performance. XTREME QUEEN’s set will be capped off by a fireworks display launched from the top of Fountain Lake, which overlooks Nolan Field.
The flyer says the festival will end at 10 p.m.
ROCK THE VALLEY 2024 will also spotlight legendary Metal Blade recording artists LIEGE LORD, a traditional heavy metal band founded and based in Stamford known for recording three cult albums in the 1980s, including the renowned power metal masterpiece MASTER CONTROL (1988). LIEGE LORD has just returned from their headlining performance at Germany’s two-day metal festival KEEP IT TRUE XXIV.
The event will also include IRON MAIDEN tribute act SANCTUARY, 80’s sunset strip rockers XYZ REVISTED (led guitarist and Seymour business owner “Guitar Fixer Bob” Pieper), female fronted BLACK SABBATH/OZZY/DIO tribute act LADY EVIL, and Valley original thrashers HARD MARCH.
Guests to ROCK THE VALLEY can expect a variety of food and craft vendors, and an early-bird opportunity to take photos with metal monsters like “Eddie” and the Grim Reaper starting at noon.
