Rotarians and associates in the Valley moved more than 7,600 pounds of food.

Ansonia, Derby-Shelton and Seymour-Oxford Rotary Clubs participated in a multi-club District Managed Grant to address food insecurity in the lower Naugatuck Valley.

On behalf of the Valley Food Pantry Network, TEAM, Inc. was responsible for handling all ordering, arrangements and distribution with Bozzuto’s. Delivery was made to Contractor Nations loading docks in Seymour.

Loading the food.

Rotarians sorted and distributed the food among the five food pantries:

- Kathleen Samela Memorial Food Bank at Christ Church

- Salvation Army

- St. Vincent dePaul Society

- Area Congregation Together (Spooner House)

- Seymour-Oxford Food Bank

For this particular event, we moved more than 7,600 pounds of food (about 6,334 meals) and this specific food distribution included a large volume of fresh dairies (cheeses-milks-eggs) and meats (chicken – turkey – fish – beef) and frozen vegetables.

We acknowledge the generosity of Rotary D 7980 for the food security grant to Ansonia, Derby-Shelton and Seymour/Oxford that was seed money to apply for a District Managed Grant. Rotarians are proud of the work of The Rotary Foundation that enables clubs to do good in the world!
