The Valley Council of Governments sent word today (Wednesday, March 3) about a forum scheduled for April 6 to discuss the Route 34 project.
The widening project is hugely important to Derby, which is trying to revive the downtown area between Route 34 and the Housatonic River. The project is mentioned at just about every meeting of the Derby Redevelopment Agency.
The forum scheduled for 6:30 p.m. is a “public input session,” according to the notice from Valley COG.
“The purpose of the session is to explain the process of the project and to accept concepts and ideas from the public prior to design,” according to Valley COG.
The project involves the stretch of Route 34 from the Derby-Shelton bridge to Ausonio Court — the unmarked road leading into Home Depot and the train station.
The meeting will be held in the Aldermanic Chambers — that’s the meeting room on the second floor of Derby City Hall at 1 Elizabeth St.
