Although there was no snow on Saturday, Santa showed.
Kris Kringle, aka Santa Claus, made an appearance for pictures and holiday cheer at Ansonia Rescue Medical Services Saturday afternoon.
For the annual “Picture with Santa,” ARMS hosted the event sponsored by Ansonia Civil Defense.
Children waited patiently in line with their parents at the event to sit on Santa’s lap and to tell him what they wanted for Christmas.
Kringle said the children were well behaved.
“It’s going great,” Kringle said. “Lots of them are good with the naughty and nice list. There’s lots of good ones this year.”
Kringle said the hot toy this season is the Nintendo DS.
Did anyone ask Santa for anything unusual this year?
“Let me put it to you this way,” Santa said. “ The last child just asked for world peace.”
Ansonia resident Jack Scanlon portrayed Santa for the event. Scanlon, a Medical Rescue Technician for ARMS, has portrayed Santa for two years at ARMS and for 12 years for the Concordia Club in Seymour.
Parents paid $5 for their children to have their pictures taken with Santa. They also had the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for prizes.
Children were also treated to free games, prizes, cookies, donuts and and cocoa.
They had their faces painted by Junior Corps, wrote letters to Santa and had temporary tattoos put on their faces and arms. Children also sat and listened to Christmas stories by Ansonia’s Bob Bialek, an advisor for the Junior Corps.
Jennifer Walsh coordinated the event with 30 volunteers — 11 being Junior Corps members.
