School Bus Crash In Shelton

Five people were taken to the hospital Wednesday morning after a SUV crashed into a school bus.

The crash happened at about 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Shelton Avenue and North Constitution Boulevard, according to information from Sgt. Robert Kozlowsky.

Police determined the school bus was on its way downtown on Shelton Avenue when it passed through a green light at the intersection. At that point it was struck by the SUV, which was on North Constitution, heading toward Nells Rock Road.

Two juveniles, the school bus monitor and the school bus driver were all taken to the hospital for an evaluation, as was the driver of the SUV, Sharon Spinosa, 53, of Shelton.

Spinosa was given a ticket for violating a traffic control signal.

All injuries were minor, police said.

The damage to the SUV and the bus was extensive,” police said.

It’s the second school bus crash in Shelton in five weeks.
