A man was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital Thursday afternoon after causing a chain-reaction crash involving two cars and a school bus in Ansonia, police said.
The crash was first reported about 2:15 p.m. No students were injured.
Ansonia Police Lt. Andrew Cota said a bus from Emmett O’Brien Vocational Technical School was stopped at the traffic light at North Main Street and Main Street when the accident occurred.
The bus was headed south on North Main Street when it stopped for a light with a car immediately behind it.
“Then a third car came down the road and crashed into the middle car, which slid up under the bus,” Cota said.
There were about a dozen students on the bus at the time, Cota said, but “nobody’s reporting any injuries, the bus driver or the kids.”
Two women who were in the middle car left the scene, Cota said.
The man driving the car which caused the collision was taken by EMS to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Cota said the man’s identity was not available Thursday afternoon, nor was a description of his injuries.
The crash is under investigation, he said.
North Main Street was closed as police investigated the accident but was re-opened to traffic about 3:50 p.m.
