A high school principal who lives in Seymour and formerly taught in Ansonia was accused of driving drunk Saturday.
Kristen Della Volpe, the principal at Litchfield High School, was arrested after police received a report of an erratic driver on East Main Street in Torrington, according to the Register Citizen.
A police officer found Della Volpe in her car waiting at a Burger King drive thru and conducted a field sobriety test, which Della Volpe failed, according to a report on the FOX CT website.
She is due in court Jan. 13.
Della Volpe began her teaching career in Ansonia in the 1990s. She taught English and was an adviser to the National Honor Society. She also coached volleyball locally before taking another teaching job at Pomperaug High School, where she eventually became assistant principal.
