Community service is one of a society’s benchmarks for health. When people are personally involved in supporting their neighborhoods, the outcome is a renewed sense of unity and civic pride. Volunteerism is a hallmark of American society, and helping other people is an integral part of the Boy Scouts of America.
Hunger is a problem in the United States for families with scarce resources. Children suffer when the limited family income must be used for other necessities and a well-balanced nutritional diet cannot be provided. These families rely on charities to provide them with a variety of food.
How can you help? Participate in the Housatonic Council’s Scouting for Food Drive on Saturday, November 13th.
