The Second Annual Derby Greenway Walk-A-Thon will be held Sunday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m.
The event benefits the Griffin Hospital Center for Cancer Care.
The 3.56-mile walk will run along the Derby Greenway, with the starting point across the street from BJ’s Wholesale Club on Division Street. Participants can register on the day of the event for $20.

Following the event, participants and workers are invited to an indoor picnic at Ansonia Falcon Hall, located at 108 Central St., Ansonia.
“When we were organizing this year’s Walk-A-Thon, we decided it would be a benefit for the Griffin Hospital Center for Cancer Care because many of our members and their families have themselves benefited from the excellent quality of care there,” said Terri Wadsworth, coordinator of the event for Polish Falcons Nest 208. “Also, we thought it was very appropriate to give something back to our local community.”
The walk-a-thon is sponsored by Jonathan Perkins Injury Lawyers.
“We’re proud to join with the Polish Falcons in supporting this worthwhile event,” said Jonathan Perkins, Partner, Jonathan Perkins Injury Lawyers. “While medical science is working tirelessly to find a cure for cancer, we all still have family members, friends, coworkers and neighbors that are affected by it every day. It’s good to know that medical professionals at places like the Griffin Hospital Center for Cancer Care are there to provide top-quality treatment and supportive services.
