Second Seymour Budget Ready For A Vote

Voters will go to the polls May 10 to cast their ballots on a new town budget that will ask $172 more in taxes on a home assessed at $200,000.

That is $28 less than the $200 more that voters rejected last Tuesday. The board of Finance Monday night finalized the new, lower budget amount, based on cost savings and trimming the budgets voters rejected.

The referendum takes place Tuesday, May 10 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Seymour Community Center on Pine Street.

First Selectman Paul Roy is standing behind the new budget amount and will issue a public statement.

Absolutely, I want to get it passed, it’s a good budget,” Roy said.

He said the adjustments brought the mill rate down to a level he believes the town can support.

I believe this is a good budget and I support this budget.”
