Police are looking for the man who robbed a 78-year-old woman in her Tremont Street home Monday.
Police received a call at about 2 a.m. from the woman, who told police she heard noise coming from her kitchen and went to see what it was.
A man had broken into her house. He forced her to the floor and repeatedly asked her for money, according to a prepared statement from police.
The woman was not injured.
He took $40 in cash from her purse, along with her pocketbook, identification and credit cards.
Ansonia police said the suspect got into the house through a kitchen window. No weapons were used during the crime.
“A strong suspect has been developed in this case but any information may be helpful,” Ansonia Police Lt. Andrew Cota said in a prepared statement.
The suspect was described as wearing shorts — no other details were provided.
Anyone with information should call police at 203 735 1885 and ask to speak to Detective John Rafalowski.
