Update: Seymour 42, O’Brien Tech 14

O’Brien Tech’s first varsity football game ever ended in a loss to the Seymour Wildcats Wednesday, 42 – 14.

The EOB-Seymour game was played in Derby — and drew a large crowd.

O’Brien Tech students, employees, parents and alumni came from all over the Valley to celebrate the debut of the school’s long-awaited football team at DeFilippo Field Wednesday night,” the CT Post’s Sean Patrick Bowley reported.

Once the pregame ceremonies were over, Seymour’s Jon Wilson started work on Seymour’s reclamation project.”

One team sought to end a losing streak that dated back to 2009.

The other was in search of its first varsity victory in school history.

Up at the Republican-American of Waterbury, writer Mark Jaffee noted the game snapped a 13-game losing streak for the once-mighty Wildcats.

Desperately needing a win, the Seymour High football team snapped a 13-game losing streak with a 42 – 14 win over upstart O’Brien Tech before an estimated crowd of 1,500,” Jaffee wrote.
