Seymour Ambulance Offers Safesitter Class

Seymour Ambulance Association is offering a Safesitter class on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013 and Jan. 27, 2013 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Participants must attend both sessions. The course is designed to teach 11- to 13-year-olds babysitting techniques, activities to do with children, and how to do the job safely.

All instructors have experience with children and are certified through SafeSitter as instructors of the course.

Students will be given hands-on time with common child care tasks, such as diaper changing, and be exposed to various bottles and infant materials on the market.

Additionally, students will be certified in adult, infant, and child CPR/AED through the American Heart Association.

This course will provide them with training on performing CPR as well as how to relieve an air obstruction and use an AED.

This course provided youths with the confidence they need to babysit and the comfort of knowing they have the skills to react in an emergency.

The cost of the course is $75. To register your child or babysitter, or for additional information, contact Shannon McDaniel at 203 – 888-8843 Ext. 4 or via email at [email protected].
