Seymour Blizzard Cleanup Message, Wednesday Night

Seymour blizzard update, Wednesday night:

This is Seymour First Selectman Kurt Miller with a storm update utilizing the Code Red System.

Public Works crews along with several private contractors continue the work of clearing snow.

At this time, the focus has been on opening up intersections as well as widening roads.

While we have made a lot of progress today, we still have work to do.

Because of this, we will be cancelling school tomorrow as we continue to work to make our bus stops and walk paths to school safe.

Also, we will be resuming garbage pickup tomorrow on the regular schedule.

Recycling for Wednesday and Thursday can be put out tomorrow if it is your regular week.

The Seymour Transfer Station will be open its regular hours the rest of the week for those folks who would like to drop off garbage.

This will be my last Code Red announcement for this storm.

I would again like to thank the Seymour Public Works, Police, Fire, Ambulance and EMS for their hard work and dedication during this storm.

While it was difficult, these folks did all that they could to keep our town safe. I am very grateful for all of their hard work.

I would also like to say thank you to the residents of Seymour.

I know how much of a challenge the last few days have been, but we truly came together as a community.

There were many incidents of residents coming together to assist each other and those in need.

I could not be prouder of the community spirit that was shown. It is truly my honor to be your First Selectman. Thank you and have a great night.
