Seymour Education Budget Vote Is Thursday

Seymour voters will go to the polls at the Seymour Community Center on Pine Street Thursday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. to vote on the proposed $29.7 million school budget.

The school budget has been trimmed by $25,000 since it failed at referendum earlier this month. At $29.7 million, the proposal is $677,000 more than the school budget currently in place.

If the proposal is approved, the town’s tax rate would be set at 27.62 mills.

If the education budget passes, next year a resident with a home assessed at $200,000 will pay an additional $168 in taxes.

The $20.7 million town budget was approved by voters in a referendum earlier this month.
