SEYMOUR — The following information was posted Dec. 19 on the Citizens’ Engine Co. No.2 Facebook page:
At approximately 2:10pm on Saturday C2 was dispatched to an animal rescue, a horse stuck in the mud. Upon arrival C2 units found a horse that had fallen and was unable to get back up. Crews worked with the horse’s owners and caretakers to secure the horse, and after several attempts she was lifted back to her feet and she walked away under her own power.
Units operating on-scene were R12, E13, 501, 502, OEM1, and Seymour PD. Crews were also assisted by Beacon Hose Co Assistant Chief Cal Brennan, who has extensive and invaluable experience working with horses. The Durham Animal Rescue Team (DART) was dispatched but returned with our thanks prior to their arrival.
