Seymour Launches Business Guide

The Town of Seymour is launching an aggressive sales and marketing program to attract businesses and to aid in promoting existing companies already located in town. Seymour’s Economic Development Commission has prepared a new 2011 Seymour Business Guide, which provides comprehensive facts and information for businesses looking to locate in the community.

In addition, a new 2011 EDC town video has been produced which gives an overall presentation of the town itself highlighting businesses, schools, special events, attractions, and life styles. The Commission also extensively upgraded their website, www.seymouredc.com, to provide detailed information on the town, current business tax incentives (new ones under development) and grants, properties available and a business directory. A mailing to town businesses will also provide them with information to list properties and advertise their business on the website.

Seymour has always been a business friendly town. We have much to offer any type or size business by way of retail and commercial properties as well as land for development. We have worked on this sales marketing program for over two years and feel we have accomplished our goal in providing the tools and information that a professional business person, management team or owner would need to make a sound decision in locating here,” stated Jon Szuch, Chairman of the Economic Development Commission.

Seymour is home to companies such as Thule-USA; an international car-racking manufacturer, The Kerite Company; a leader worldwide in coated cable and wire, Connecticut Basement Systems; the largest basement and moisture control company in New England, RAF Electronic Hardware; the nation’s leading supplier of electronic hardware components and Microboard Processing, Inc.; New England’s premier provider of electronic manufacturing services and many more. Seymour’s downtown area boasts the quaintness of an antique district shared with a variety of retail and service entities with plans in the works for a major $20 million redevelopment project of a former factory site.

Thousands of tourists and visitors are attached to Seymour’s charm and special annual events such as the Pumpkin Festival, parades, Founder’s Day and the newly proposed soon to come Fish By-Pass at Tingue Dam.

The Town of Seymour and its staff is on board to support and assist any business wishing to locate here,” said First Selectman Paul Roy.
