A 21-year-old Seymour man is accused of punching a police dog after a car crash in Milford.
According to a prepared statement from Milford police, Daniel Brozak was in a car accident on Rose Mill Road.
He drove away, then crashed his car into a utility pole a short distance away, police said.
Brozak then allegedly tried to swing at an officer trying to detain him. A police dog joined the fray, only to be be struck “several times with a closed fist,” by Brozak, police said.
The crash and alleged dog assault happened April 17. Police investigated, obtained an arrest warrant, and arrested Brozak June 3.
He was charged with cruelty to animals, attempted assault on a police officer, evading responsibility and failing to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Bond was set at $10,000 and he is due in court July 2.
