A Seymour man was killed Tuesday night after the car he was fixing fell on him.
Jacek Pleban, 47, of Stanley Drive, was found unresponsive underneath his Mazda sedan in his garage at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to Seymour Police Capt. Paul Beres.
Police said Pleban became trapped under the car when two scissor jacks holding it up slipped.
“It’s a tragic accident,” Beres said.
Pleban’s daughter found him trapped under the car when she returned home at about 11:30 p.m.
Police are not sure what time Pleban became trapped, as he was working on his car throughout the night.
Emergency responders to the scene removed the car from on top of Pleban, but determined he was beyond any medical help.
The chief medical examiner’s officer ruled the cause of death as traumatic asphyxia and said it was accidental.
Police are investigating the incident as part of protocol, but do not believe any foul play was involved.
