Seymour Movie Premiere To Benefit Food Bank

A movie premiere Sept. 6 in Seymour will benefit the Seymour Food Bank.

Titled The Inheritance,” the 76-minute film is based on a novel by Louisa May Alcott. Click the play button on the video to watch the trailer.

The event will take place at the Strand Theater, 165 Main St. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. Short films (“Picnic Perfect” and Common Ground”) start at 8:15 p.m. The Inheritance” starts at 8:30 p.m.

Tickets are $5. Attendees are also encouraged to bring donations of canned food. 

The film’s tagline: In a time when fortune and social status could defy love, one man’s redemption alters the lives of a whole family.”

Here’s a plot summary of the Alcott book from Barnes and Noble: Set in an English country manor, the story follows the turbulent fortunes of Edith Adelon, an impoverished Italian orphan whose loyalty and beauty win her the patronage of wealthy friends until a jealous rival contrives to rob her of her position. In the locket around her neck, she carries a deep secret about her natural birthright. But an even greater truth lies hidden in Edith’s heart — her deep reverence for the kind and noble Lord Percy, the only friend who can save her from the deceitful, envious machinations of Lady Ida.”

Flannery thanked the Seymour Culture and Arts Commission for allowing the film to premiere at The Strand.
