The Seymour/Oxford Rotary Club recognized Seymour Police Officer John Cronin at its fifth annual Civic Recognition Awards on Monday April 19, at Ozzie’s Restaurant on Main Street in Seymour.
Officer Cronin joined the Seymour Police Department as a Supernumerary Police Officer in September 1977. He was promoted to full-time patrolman in September 1986.
Officer Cronin is also a volunteer firefighter with the Great Hill Hose Company and has been a volunteer in Seymour for over 40 years.
Officer Cronin was chosen to receive this award by Chief Michael Metzler because of his professional attitude that he maintains at all times while dealing with the public.
Present to give Cronin the award was Rotary District Governor, Colin M. Gershon, Seymour First Selectman Paul Roy and Seymour/Oxford Rotary President Joyce Barclay.
Officer Cronin was accompanied to the awards ceremony by his wife, Ellen Cronin.
Dinner reception followed the awards ceremony.
