SEYMOUR — On Saturday, Oct. 7, the annual “Seymour Pink” 5K Road Race will take place in Seymour from 9:00 am until it finishes. The following streets will be shut down during the event, the entire length of River St and Broad St will be shut down from 5:00 am until the event ends. Cedar St, Church St, Rose St, Beecher St, Derby Ave. and parts of West St will be shut down from 8:30 am until the race clears each street.
The race should take no more than two (2) hours. There will also be detour signs at certain intersections as well as Police Officers to assist. We ask people in the area to try to avoid the area and take an alternate route during the race. We also ask that you please use caution while driving as there will be a lot of pedestrian traffic in the area.
There will be handicap parking only in the commuter lot at Main St and Broad St. The bus company will also have shuttle bus services from Seymour High School and Bungay School and drop off at West Church St and West St and Chatfield/LoPresti School and drop off at Main St and Broad St. There will be no shuttle bus service when race starts and will start up again after the race is finished.
Parking will be available at the town parking lots located on Wakeley St as well as Main St and Rte 67. As usual, please be aware as to where you park your car, parking on private property is prohibited. unless you have the owner’s permission. Cars will be towed at owners’ expense from some business parking lots. So please avoid a tow bill.
