Seymour Police Ask For Help In Identifying Burglary Suspect

SEYMOUR — The Seymour Police Department is asking for the public’s help to identify a burglary suspect.

Someone broke into a shed between 5 and 5:30 a.m. July 21 on South Main Street and stole a Yamaha PW-80 dirt bike, which a girl had just received for her birthday, according to a Facebook post from her father.

The family captured surveillance video of the suspect which was posted on social media and has been shared more than 1,000 times.

Police are asking anyone who might have information to contact Detective Joseph Matusovich by email at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address), or by telephone at 203 881 7637.

“Information will be kept confidential. Any assistance from the public will be greatly appreciated,” according to Seymour Police Department Deputy Chief Robert Rinaldi.

On Friday (July 26), Seymour police said the suspect may have been driving a Honda Accord or a Nissan Altima.

In addition, the dirt bike may have been seen on the North State Street area of Ansonia after the burglary.

Jason Gossett, the bike’s owner, noted the bike does not have a muffler. Its serial number is JYA21W007FA111863.

Gossett is offering a $200 reward for information leading to an arrest.

The suspect stole a number of tools, too.
