
SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from April 21, 2025 through April 27, 2025.
It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.
Note: generally, this publication does not post the names of people charged with misdemeanors; the names of victims; or numbered residential addresses. If we publish a suspect’s name, we track the case.
Seymour police received 310 calls for service and made six arrests between April 21, 2025 and April 27, 2025.
APRIL 21, 2025
8:42 a.m. Police received a report of suspicious activity at Seybridge Plaza on New Haven Road. They found a female asleep in her car, who told police she was taking a nap before work.
12:53 p.m. A Bryson Avenue resident reported a dispute between tenants. One tenant told police his trailer had been moved without permission. There was no damage to the trailer. Police were unable to make contact with the other tenant, but we’re going to follow up with him about the dispute.
3:58 p.m. A caller lodged a complaint about solicitors in the area of Great Oak Ridge Way and Pearl Street without a permit. Police advised the solicitors that they had to have a permit.
4:29 p.m. A Bellevue Terrace resident complained that an open house was causing parking issues in the area. The Realtor told police the open house would be done soon.
ARPIL 22, 2025
11:28 a.m. A Metro North train dispatcher requested police assistance with a passenger who he said was threatening other passengers. Police met the man at the train stop and said there were no further issues.
2:39 p.m. A Balance Rock resident reported that a German Shepherd was on the roof of her apartment. Police said the fire department and animal control were notified of the situation, but the dog eventually came back inside the house.
4:09 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a minor motor vehicle accident on Franklin Street. No injuries were reported.
7:32 p.m. Police received a report of a white van driving erratically on Bungay Road near the Balance Rock apartments. Police located the driver in the Balance Rock parking lot and said the driver appeared to be okay.
11:04 p.m. A Roosevelt Drive resident told police there was loud noise coming from the Housatonic House Restaurant and the noise was keeping her baby awake. Police advised the restaurant staff that patrons cannot park in the apartment parking lot.
APRIL 23, 2025
12:47 a.m. A delivery driver told police the doors to the Wendy’s restaurant on Bank Street were wide open when he was attempting to make a delivery. The driver requested a police escort inside the building. Police reported the building was clear upon entry and the driver said he would lock the doors after he left.
9:03 a.m. Police assisted with lockdown drills at Bungay School on Bungay Road.
11:05 a.m. An employee from Shady Knoll health center on Skokorat Street reported that a resident hit two other residents. Police said the incident was documented for the state.
3:39 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a minor motor vehicle accident on North Main Street. No injuries were reported.
4:03 p.m. A North Benham Road resident reported that his dirt bike and bicycle were stolen around 4 a.m.
6:04 p.m. A Derby Avenue resident told police he heard a gunshot that he believed came across the Naugatuck River and “whistled” by his head. Police checked the area and found nothing.
APRIL 24, 2025
8:05 a.m. Police conducted a safety check of Seymour Middle School on Mountain Road.
9:45 a.m. A Highland Avenue resident reported low wires hanging in the area. Police said the wires were low enough for a truck to strike them and notified Frontier about the situation.
1:29 p.m. A Bungay Road resident told police she was scammed online out of $700,00 in Crypto currency.
5:37 p.m. A caller told police he saw a baby stroller down an embankment off of Route 8 south near Cedar Street. Police checked the area and located the baby stroller, which they verified was empty.
8:22 p.m. A Great Hill Road resident told police a dirt bike was driving erratically in the area. Police checked the area but said the dirt bike was gone upon their arrival.
APRIL 25, 2025
5:20 a.m. A caller told police there were rocks in both lanes of the road in a construction zone on Bank Street near Klarides Village. He said a driver in front of him kicked up some of the rocks and chipped his car. Police said they would advise the construction crew to clean the rocks from the road.
10:03 a.m. Police received a 911 hangup call. The caller told police he was doing squats at Elite Fitness in Klarides Village Plaza and accidentally dialed 911 from his smart watch.
2:37 p.m. Police assisted a woman in the Stop & Shop parking lot on Franklin Street who locked her keys in her car. The keys were retrieved through an open sunroof.
9:15 p.m. A caller told police a man in a white pick-up truck was driving around in circles in the parking lot outside of Cast Iron Pizza in Klarides Village and appeared intoxicated. Police checked the area, but the truck was gone upon their arrival.
APRIL 26, 2025
12:40 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a minor motor vehicle accident on North Benham Road. No injuries were reported.
12:48 a.m. Ansonia Police advised Seymour Police about a large gathering/street takeover at nearby Nolan Field in Ansonia. Police said about 20 vehicles were surrounding the nearby Shell Station on the Seymour/Ansonia town line. Police said the vehicles left the area without further issues.
3:21 a.m. A Jay Lane resident told police she was receiving harassing text messages, emails and phone calls. Police contacted the individual accused of doing the harassing and advised them to stop.
10:47 a.m. A South Main Street resident told police her neighbor stole and damaged her bee traps and found them down an embankment behind a nearby building. Police were unable to make contact with the neighbor and advised the resident to install a security camera.
11:00 p.m. Police charged a 55-year-old Seymour man with violation of a criminal protective order, first-degree criminal trespass, criminal violation of a restraining order and violation of probation.
APRIL 27, 2025
12:32 a.m. Police asked Ansonia Police to provide mutual aid for a street takeover in the Tri-Town Plaza on Derby Avenue. Police said about 80 cars were doing burnouts in the plaza.
6:54 a.m. Police received a complaint about an intoxicated woman walking around the Dunkin Donuts parking lot on Roosevelt Drive.
12:46 p.m. Police charged a 31-year-old Ansonia woman for having an unsupervised child in a public place/motor vehicle.
1:09 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a minor motor vehicle accident on Stoddard Street. There were no injuries reported.
9:03 p.m. A Buckingham Road resident told police a bear attacked and killed the family dog on the back deck of the home, and would not leave. Police notified DEEP who responded to the scene.
