SEYMOUR Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from April 28, 2025 through May 4, 2025.

It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.

Seymour police received 212 calls for service and made nine arrests between April 28, 2025 and May 4, 2025.

APRIL 28, 2025

3:18 p.m. A Columbus Street resident told police his car was damaged, and that someone left a note on his windshield claiming responsibility.

4:28 p.m. A Pershing Avenue resident lodged a complaint with police about a contractor working at his house who did not return to finish the job.

4:48 p.m. Police received a complaint about a blue Hyundai driving erratically on North Main Street heading toward Beacon Falls. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.

10:11 p.m. A patient at Shady Knoll Health Center on Skokorat Street reported to police that he was assaulted by another patient.

ARPIL 29, 2025

1:20 a.m. Police charged a 30-year-old Oxford woman with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and following too closely.

3:56 a.m. A MacConnie Court resident told police his neighbors’ dogs on South Benham Road are continually barking, and that this was an ongoing issue. An officer listened for several minutes at both locations and did not hear any barking.

11:12 a.m. An employee of a New Haven Road business told police an older, shaggy male” came into the business and was being very inappropriate with the female staff. Police checked the area and were unable to locate the man. 

3:16 p.m. An Old Ansonia Road resident reported that her child was missing. Before police arrived, the child was located inside the home inside a bathroom closet.

5:35 p.m. An Elmwood Drive resident lodged a complaint with police about a contractor she hired and paid to do work at her house, but didn’t finish the job and didn’t return repeated phone calls. 

APRIL 30, 2025

8:18 a.m. Police investigated an ongoing noise complaint lodged by an employee of the Seymour Ansonia Veterinary Hospital on South Main Street about loud music coming from a building next door.

5:07 p.m. Police received a report about an injured goose on Silvermine Road.

7:47 p.m. A resident told police an intoxicated man was in the road near Maple and Union streets. Police said the man returned to his home and declined medical assistance.

MAY 1, 2025

12:55 a.m. Police charged a 30-year-old New Haven man with operating an unregistered motor vehicle, illegally operating a motor vehicle without insurance, reckless driving and engaging police in pursuit.

5:01 a.m. Police responded to a verbal dispute at a Chamberlain Road residence.

7:07 a.m. An employee from the Henny Penny gas station on New Haven Road told police someone damaged a gas pump.

3:04 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a minor motor vehicle accident in the parking lot of the Seymour Community Center on Pine Street. No injuries were reported.

3:52 p.m. Police charged a 22-year-old Wallingford man with violation of a protective order.

9:28 p.m. An employee of a New Haven Road gas station reported that someone was passed out inside their vehicle near the air pump.

9:33 p.m. Police charged a 33-year-old Seymour man with possession of a controlled substance, first offense and violation of a protective order.

MAY 2, 2025

10:43 a.m. Police charged a 30-year-old Waterbury woman with evading responsibly and property damage.

10:56 a.m. Police responded to a verbal dispute between neighbors on New Street.

1:27 p.m. An employee from Goldies on New Haven Road requested a welfare check for a delivery driver that was asleep in his truck in the parking lot for two hours. Police said the driver didn’t feel well and was resting while waiting on a co-worker.

7:10 p.m. A caller told police an intoxicated man was walking in the road near Webster Bank on New Haven Road and fell into a tree. Police escorted the man back to his residence on Garden Street.

MAY 3, 2025

12:01 a.m. A Balance Rock Road resident told police a neighbor in the apartment complex was yelling and keeping everyone awake. Police contacted the resident who said he would quiet down.

3:00 a.m. Police charged a 48-year-old Bridgeport man with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs.

8:24 a.m. An Elm Street resident reported an incident of fraud with her debit card.

9:46 a.m. A caller reported that a rabbit was hit on Bungay Road near Little Bit Farm.

3:00 p.m. Police charged a 25-year-old Seymour woman with second-degree breach of peace.

7:50 p.m. A Botsford Road resident told police a sunroom vendor was going door to door without a permit. Police advised the solicitor they needed to get a permit.

11:44 p.m. Police conducted a safety check at Gary Park.

MAY 4, 2025

6:17 a.m. Police received a call about a transformer on fire on Davis Road. The fire department was on the scene.

7:14 a.m. A report of a tree hanging in the road at Roosevelt Drive/Squantuck Road was received by police. The state DOT was notified to remove the tree.

1:50 p.m. Police charged a 59-year-old Seymour woman with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and failure to drive in the proper lane.

1:54 p.m. A caller told police she was concerned about two juveniles wearing masks and gloves walking on Mountain Road. Police checked the area but were unable to locate the individuals.

2:00 p.m. Police charged a 20-year-old Seymour woman with interfering with an officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

3:59 p.m. Police received a call about a loose dog running around a parking lot on West Street. The dog’s owner arrived quickly to retrieve the Jack Russell mix and said he didn’t know the dog got loose.

5:23 p.m. Police said they found an individual lying on the ground with his bike on top of him in front of the police station on Franklin Street. The individual, who was not injured, told police he was doing a wheelie.
