Seymour Police Blotter Jan. 27, 2025 – Feb. 2, 2025

SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from Jan. 27, 2025 through Feb. 2, 2025.

It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.

Seymour police received 187 calls for service and made five arrests between Jan. 27, 2025 and Feb. 2, 2025.

JAN. 27, 2025

1:31 p.m. A call reported someone was trespassing at the Henny Penny gas station on New Haven Road.

3:33 p.m. Police assisted a motorist with a flat tire on Derby Avenue.

10:13 p.m. Police responded to an alarm at Seymour Middle School, which turned out to be a false alarm.

JAN. 28, 2025

8:54 a.m. An Elmwood Drive resident reported that she was scammed by a fake Microsoft customer service agent, who took remote access of her laptop. The resident reported no loss of funds, but her bank was put on alert to be on the lookout for any potential future issues. 

2:42 p.m. A Marie Drive resident reported to police that a family member had been stealing from him for the past month, with the total value of items stolen estimated at $20,000.

8:50 p.m. Police responded to a disabled motor vehicle on Bank Street.

JAN. 29, 2025

12:28 p.m. A complaint about the traffic light at the intersection of Route 67/New Haven Road and Skokorat Street not functioning property was reported to police.

2:43 p.m. Police responded to a report of a tree down on Route 67/New Haven Road.

4:25 p.m. Police charged a 27-year-old Seymour man with disorderly conduct.

4:30 p.m. Police charged a 37-year-old Waterbury woman with use of drug paraphernalia, criminal impersonation and interfering with an officer and resisting arrest. 

JAN. 30, 2025

8:07 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle crash at Maple and Pearl streets.

9:27 a.m. Police conducted fingerprints for a pistol permit application.

10:38 a.m. Patrol officer is conducting observation for cell phone violations.

2:39 p.m. Police responded to a report of a disabled tractor-tractor on Route 67/New Haven Road and Main Street

4 p.m. A 911 call from a student at Seymour Middle School was received, but school librarian confirmed to police the call was an accident, and no issue was reported.

JAN. 31, 2025

12:04 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle crash at Canfield/Bungay roads.

4:13 p.m. A walk-in complaint from a Balance Rock Road resident told police her vehicle was hit while parked in the Balance Rock condominium complex.

6:15 p.m. Police charged a 60-year-old Seymour woman with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs.

6:49 p.m. A caller complained to police that multiple cars were blocking the driveway to McDonald’s on Bank Street. Police said the line was normal and cars were waiting to go through the drive-thru.

FEB. 1, 2025

3:33 a.m. Police conducted a routine building check at a business on North Main Street.

10:05 a.m. Police received a 911 hang-up call. Police said kids were playing with phone and call was accidental. Police spoke with kids about use of the 911 system.

11:34 a.m. Police were called to a report of an alarm activated at the chapel at Mountain Meadows Cemetery. A walk-through of the building was conducted and police deemed it was a false alarm.

3:38 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident at Falbo’s garage on West Street.

FEB. 2, 2025

2:35 a.m. Police charged a 42-year-old Ansonia woman with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol-drugs.

6:55 p.m. Police responded to a report of a disabled motor vehicle on Maple Street that was partially blocking the road.

9:56 p.m. Numerous complaints of cars sliding backwards on the hill at West and River streets were reported. Police said Public Works Department supervisor was notified.

11:20 p.m. A Bungay Road resident reported that her neighbor’s Doberman pincher was aggressively barking at her while she was shoveling her driveway. She told police she is worried about the dog coming onto her property and for the safety of her and her daughter. Police were unable to make contact with the neighbor.
