SEYMOUR Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from June 2, 2025 through June 8, 2025.

It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.

Seymour police received 328 calls for service and made four arrests between June 2, 2025 and June 8, 2025.

JUNE 2, 2025

7:45 a.m. Police responded to a report of vandalism at the Seymour Public Works Department, where a window of a machine was damaged.

10:58 a.m. A Brookfield Road resident told police she had fraudulent charges on her credit card.

1:17 p.m. An employee of the Henny Penny gas station reported that a man was passed out behind the wheel of his car in the store parking lot. The man told police he was taking a nap.

6:55 p.m. Police received a 911 hang-up call. The caller told police her cat stepped on her phone and accidentally dialed 911.

JUNE 3, 2025

8:04 a.m. A Walnut Street resident told police he was struck by a side view mirror of a car driving erratically on his street.

8:34 a.m. Police received a call about an injured goose on Roosevelt Drive.

9:09 a.m. Police charged a 22-year-old Derby man with third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass, second-degree breach of peace and disorderly conduct.

11:01 a.m. The school security director reported that someone was going through the dumpsters at Seymour Middle School, leaving trash all over the school grounds. Police made contact with the person, who said he was collecting cans to recycle and was unaware he could not go through the dumpsters after hours. He told police he would not go there again.

3:40 p.m. Police received a complaint about someone who was spray-painting the Broad Street bridge gold.” The person painting a corner of the bridge is doing a mural the town approved.

4:11 p.m. Police received a complaint about a naked woman, who appeared to be intoxicated, walking in the area of Washington Avenue and Humphrey Street.

JUNE 4, 2025

7:06 a.m. Police charged a 42-year-old Bridgeport man with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs/alcohol and operating a motor vehicle without a license.

8:22 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a one-car motor vehicle crash near the Route 8 Exit 18 ramp.

8:36 a.m. A Jefferson Street resident reported that a rabid raccoon appeared to be dying in her driveway.

11:10 a.m. A caller told police a tractor trailer truck got stuck underneath the trestle on South Main Street/Main Street and was attempting to back up.

10:09 p.m. A Canfield Road resident reported that she heard an unusual noise outside her house and the doorknob was jiggling.” Police checked the exterior of the house and said it was all clear.

JUNE 5, 2025

7:18 a.m. An Elaine Drive resident reported that she found a Husky dog roaming in the area. Animal control was notified, and the dog was returned to its owner.

9:01 a.m. A New Haven Road gas station manager reported that someone in a blue Nissan drove off with a gas pump.

9:25 a.m. The school security director reported that a fifth grader made comments about bringing a gun to school. The student was searched, and no weapons were found. The students’ parents were contacted, and no weapons were found in the home. The school handled the student’s discipline.

12:39 p.m. A caller told police a 13-year-old was riding his bike in and out of traffic on Bank Street and was heading toward the Route 8 entrance ramp.

6 p.m. Police charged a 38-year-old woman with disorderly conduct.

6:54 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a rollover crash with an ejection on Route 8.

8:14 p.m. A Patton Avenue resident reported that several kids were driving up and down the road on dirt bikes.

JUNE 6, 2025

3:02 a.m. Police responded to a suspicious vehicle parked in a dirt parking lot near Roosevelt Drive and Squantuck Road. Police said the vehicle was unoccupied and secure.

3:53 a.m. Someone reported a turtle was in the road near a gas station on Mountain Road. Police safely moved the turtle out of the road. 

4:40 p.m. A Bunting Road resident told police someone vandalized his cable box and window shutter.

5:51 p.m. A Balance Rock Road resident told police she accidentally opened a package belonging to someone in another apartment, who then claimed the person who opened the package was trying to steal it.

11 p.m. Police charged a 52-year-old Ansonia man with disorderly conduct and third-degree assault.

JUNE 7, 2025

1:03 a.m. Police responded to a suspicious vehicle parked at Gary Park, where a man was asleep in his car. Police told the man to leave, and he did.

7:03 p.m. A Washington Avenue resident reported a fight taking place between two people outside her home.

8:41 p.m. A volunteer with the town’s animal shelter reported hearing noises outside the building on Silvermine Road. Police stood by as the employee closed the center for the night.

JUNE 8, 2025

1:30 a.m. Police received a call about a man laying in the road near West Church Street and Rider Avenue. The man was transported to his girlfriend’s residence.

8:20 a.m. A caller reported downed trees on Argonne Terrace. Police notified public works to remove the trees blocking the road.

10:11 a.m. Police were notified that the decorations on the gazebo at the Chusetown Community Park at the corner of Broad and River streets were vandalized.

2:48 p.m. A Skyline Terrace resident told police he thinks his vehicle is under surveillance, after pulling it apart and finding some electrical device that he said looked like it didn’t belong there. Police said they found no evidence of a crime.

5:07 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle crash on New Haven Road (Route 67) near the Henny Penny gas station.
