SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from March 24, 2025 through March 30, 2025.
It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.
Note: generally, this publication does not post the names of people charged with misdemeanors; the names of victims; or numbered residential addresses. If we publish a suspect’s name, we track the case.
Seymour police received 150 calls for service and made four arrests between March 24, 2025 and March 30, 2025.
MARCH 24, 2025
4:27 p.m. A Franklin Street resident complained to police about receiving harassing text messages. Police spoke with both parties who agreed not to speak to each other anymore.
4:30 p.m. Police charged a 34-year-old Naugatuck man with interfering/resisting an officer.
4:54 p.m. A report about a white van that slid off Rimmon Road was reported. Police said the van got stuck in the mud while turning around and got a tow.
5:59 p.m. Police received a report that the traffic light at the intersection at Route 8 north and New Haven Road was not working. Police notified the state DOT and placed temporary stop signs at the intersection until the light was fixed.
MARCH 25, 2025
2:04 a.m. Police received a report of suspicious activity behind McDonalds on Bank Street. Police found a vehicle parked behind the restaurant after-hours. The occupant inside the vehicle told police he was going through a break-up and was homeless at the moment. Police advised the individual that he couldn’t park there after-hours.
7:51 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a minor two-car accident at New Haven Road and Skokorat Street.
4:48 p.m. A caller told police he attempted to withdraw $1,000 from the drive-up ATM at M&T Bank. The machine cancelled the transaction, but the individual said he was charged twice ($2,000). The bank did an investigation and found no issues and advised the individual to file a police report.
5:37 p.m. Police received a report about an erratic driver going through red lights and passing other motor vehicles on Bank Street. Police were unable to locate the driver.
MARCH 26, 2025
1:52 a.m. Police reported a car door was left open on Kathy Drive. An officer tried to make contact with the homeowner but was not successful. The officer secured the door.
7:52 a.m. A building safety check was done by police at Seymour Middle School on Mountain Road.
9:47 a.m. Police received a walk-in complaint about a road rage incident that happened near CVS on West Street. Police spoke with the parties involved, who did not want to pursue criminal charges.
10 a.m. Police charged a 38-year-old Norwalk man with second-degree harassment.
6:14 p.m. An anonymous caller reported that a group of middle-school-age children were acting inappropriately and were throwing sticks and threatening each other at Gary Park. Police said the youths were all friends and nobody was hurt. Police advised the youths they’d be asked to leave if police were called back to the park.
9 p.m. Police charged a 58-year-old Seymour woman with use of drug paraphernalia and first-offense possession of a controlled substance.
MARCH 27, 2025
1:43 a.m. A Rennay Road resident told police that a man was attempting to break into her home. Police were able to detain the man, who was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. The homeowner did not pursue any charges.
2:15 p.m. Police located a vehicle in the McDonald’s parking lot after-hours and found a woman asleep in her car. The woman told police she was an Uber drive and wanted to take a nap. Police advised the woman she could not be there after-hours, and she left without any further issues.
4:04 a.m. A Hine Street resident reported to police about being woken up by a loud noise coming from a neighbor’s house, where all the lights were on. Police said a disco ball hanging from a hook on the ceiling fell inside the house.
11:52 a.m. Police received a report about a disabled box truck on Washington Avenue.
5:37 p.m. A caller reported a motor vehicle was driving erratically on North Street/New Haven Road. The vehicle, headed toward Woodbridge, was gone when police arrived. Police notified Woodbridge Police.
MARCH 28, 2025
12:45 a.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle park on his street, which he followed to Tri-Town Plaza on Derby Avenue. Police said some teenagers were hanging out in the plaza and there were no further issues.
1:43 p.m. Police received a report of someone in a black Audi driving erratically on Roosevelt Drive heading into Oxford. The vehicle was gone upon police arrival.
7:45 p.m. Police charged a 67-year-old Beacon Falls woman with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs.
10:27 p.m. Police received a request to secure a CT Transit bus while the bus driver, who was having a medical issue, was taken to the hospital, and another driver could be dispatched to take control of the bus.
MARCH 29, 2025
2:14 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Holbrook Road where the driver reported hitting a deer.
9:47 a.m. Police received a walk-in report from an individual who found a wallet on the ground in front of a smoke shop in the Seybridge Plaza. Police returned the wallet to its owner.
3:18 p.m. A French Street resident told police a few motorcycles were traveling up and down French and Highland streets at a high rate of speed.
5:37 p.m. Police received a complaint about a kid doing wheelies on his bicycle in the middle of New Haven Road (Route 67).
9:32 p.m. Police were called to Reservoir Manner to assist a resident who had fallen out his wheelchair.
MARCH 30, 2025
7:48 a.m. A North Street resident complained to police that his front steps were damaged by his neighbor.
2:19 p.m. A South Main Street resident called police about two dogs running through her yard. Police said the dogs were reunited with their owner.
3:24 p.m. Police received a complaint about three youths riding their bikes in the middle of the road at Bank and River streets. Police made contact with the youths at McDonald’s, who told police they were not riding in the middle of the road, but were trying to cross the road.
4:31 p.m. Police received a call from an intoxicated man who was just released from Griffin Hospital for alcohol abuse, and requested that he go back to the hospital. Police sent an ambulance to transport the man back to the hospital.
