
SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from March 31, 2025 through April 6, 2025.
It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.
Note: generally, this publication does not post the names of people charged with misdemeanors; the names of victims; or numbered residential addresses. If we publish a suspect’s name, we track the case.
Seymour police received 180 calls for service and made six arrests between March 31, 2025 and April 6, 2025.
Please note this is not a list of people arrested. It’s a list of reasons explaining why residents called police.
MARCH 31, 2025
8:51 a.m. A High Street resident told police that she believes her son’s girlfriend stole some tools from his apartment. The son is currently incarcerated.
9:10 a.m. Police received a report from a Seymour Public Works employee about finding a handgun at the Seymour transfer station on Silvermine Road. Police said they are running a trace on the gun to see if they can locate the owner.
12:06 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a two-car motor vehicle crash at the corner of Bungay Road/Derby Avenue.
12:36 p.m. Police assisted a Terrace Road resident with removal of an injured raccoon.
5:26 p.m. Police received a walk-in complaint from a South Main Street resident that said someone from Ansonia is sending packages to her home, using her name.
9:10 p.m. Police charged a 61-year-old Ansonia woman with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and failure to display lights.
ARPIL 1, 2025
12:01 a.m. Police charged a 27-year-old Beacon Falls man with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs.
12:53 p.m. A bus driver for the Seymour Community Center reported to police that the traffic light at the corner of Broad and Main streets was not cycling properly.
2:50 p.m. An Ajellos Farm Road resident reported that after returning from vacation, she discovered that the front license plate from her car was stolen.
6:53 p.m. Police responded to reports about a white Jeep driving all over the road on Route 67. The driver was located and complained about dizziness and was transported to the hospital.
8:58 p.m. Police received a 911 hang-up call from Warren Drive, but learned it was an accidental dial.
APRIL 2, 2025
2:43 p.m. A resident turned in unwanted firearm ammunition to the police department on Franklin Street.
3:17 p.m. Police received a report of a disabled cement truck blocking the road on Rimmon Road.
6:47 p.m. Police received a call about a possible missing hiker whose car was parked in a lot on the Ansonia end of the hiking trail at Clinton and Rimmon roads. Police deployed a drone and its K9 unit and said the missing hiker was located in Ansonia.
APRIL 3, 2025
10:03 a.m. A Hill Street resident told police a man wearing baggy pants and carrying a backpack was walking through her backyard. Police checked the area and were unable to find anyone matching the description.
3:12 p.m. A Lane Street resident complained that a teenager was soliciting door to door and came to his door several times and was very pushy. Police located the teen in the area, who told police she was soliciting for Frontier Communications. Police spoke with the teen’s supervisor and advised her to get a permit from town hall.
5:10 p.m. Police received a complaint from a Hine Street resident about a woman wearing a brown hat who was knocking on doors in the neighborhood and acting strange. Police checked the area but were unable to locate the woman.
9 p.m. A caller reported that a driver in front of him was driving erratically. Police located the driver at Maple and Wooster streets. The driver told police he dropped his wallet on the floor and when he went to reach for it, it caused him to swerve.
APRIL 4, 2025
8:55 a.m. A caller told police he saw a puff of smoke coming from a telephone pole on Botsford Road, and when he passed by again 10 minutes later, there was no smoke. Police checked the poll and reported there was no smoke. Eversource was contacted.
12:15 p.m. A caller complained that a female wearing all black was walking in the road along Derby Avenue near Heavenly Donuts. The woman told police she was taking items to a storage unit. Police gave the woman a ride back to the Norman Ray House.
5:24 p.m. Police charged a 21-year-old Seymour man with third-degree criminal mischief.
6:30 p.m. Police charged a 43-year-old Shelton man with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs.
8:54 p.m. A Great Hill Road resident told police three teenagers wearing masks were knocking on her door. Police checked the area and were unable to locate the teens.
APRIL 5, 2025
7:09 a.m. Police received multiple calls about a disabled motor vehicle at the intersection of Main and Broad streets. The driver of the car was on the scene and police called a tow truck to remove the car.
4:47 p.m. A South Main Street resident told police his ex-girlfriend, who he dated more than six months ago, keeps sending him harassing phone messages.
5:23 p.m. A Lakeview Avenue resident told police that she had been scammed out of more than $4,000. Her bank advised her to file a fraud/credit card/ATM report with police.
10:18 p.m. Police received a 911 hang-up call from Moss Avenue, but said it was a misdial.
APRIL 6, 2025
12:40 a.m. Police received a complaint about two individuals lighting firecrackers at residents’ front doors at Sachem and Mountain roads. Police checked the area and were unable to locate the individuals.
10:29 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle crash at Chestnut and North streets. No injuries were reported.
10:35 a.m. A Colony Road Extension resident reported that his mailbox was damaged/vandalized by fireworks.
4:15 p.m. Police charged a 21-year-old Seymour woman with disorderly conduct.
5:02 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a two-car crash at River Street and Derby Avenue. No injuries were reported.
6:38 p.m. Police were monitoring Stony Creek Lane about complaints the night before about kids setting fireworks in the area.
