Seymour police released the names of three people involved in a serious accident on Squantuck Road Sunday afternoon.
The crash involved a car and a motorcycle and resulted in serious injuries for both people who were on the motorcycle.
Matthew Casso, 22, of Seymour, was driving a Cadillac southwest on Squantuck Road, when he took a left hand turn onto Hull Road, police said, into the path of a motorcycle heading in the opposite direction.
Casso hit a motorcycle with Matthew Hemby, 54, and Cindy Jo Hmeby, 47, of Seymour. The motorcycle was driving north east on Squantuck Road, and had not left its lane, police said.
The two people on the motorcycle were thrown about 50 feet, and suffered serious injuries. The brother of the passenger, who did not give his name, said both Cindy Jo and Matthew Hemby were wearing helmets.
They were taken to the Hospital of Saint Raphael’s trauma center with life threatening injuries.
Lt. Paul Satkowski said their conditions have been upgraded to stable since the accident happened.
“At this point in time it looks like they will survive their injuries,” Satkowski said Wednesday. “They have injuries that will be life changing.”
Because of the seriousness of the accident, the Seymour police accident reconstruction team was called to the scene to investigate.
Satkowski said the investigation could take several weeks.
No tickets or charges had been issued as of Wednesday, however Satkowski said he expects some follow-up from the police department.
