Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from Feb. 10, 2025 through Feb. 17, 2025.

It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.

Seymour police received 212 calls for service and made seven arrests between Feb. 10, 2025 and Feb. 17, 2025.

FEB. 10, 2025

10:35 a.m. Public Works Department requested police assistance with complaint about a resident pushing snow into the road at New Street and West Street.

1:58 p.m. Police charged a 44-year-old Seymour man with violation of probation.

7:14 p.m. Police responded to a complaint of a verbal dispute between a man and a woman at the Citgo Gas Station on New Haven Road.

FEB. 11, 2025

8:33 a.m. A caller reported that a black Taurus with dark tints had been sitting at the stop sign at Culver Street and Third Avenue for 25 minutes. Prior to police arriving, the car left.

9:31 a.m. Police conducted fingerprints for a resident for employment.

11:11 a.m. Police responded to an accident on Skokorat Street where a driver said a large sheet of ice flew off the roof of a truck and smashed into her windshield. No injuries were reported.

2:03 p.m. Police conducted fingerprints for a resident seeking a pistol permit. 

3:56 p.m. A caller complained that a white school bus was driving erratically on New Haven Road. Police were unable to locate the bus. 

FEB. 12, 2025

12:28 p.m. The school resource officer at Seymour Middle School requested assistance for a fight that broke out between two students.

10:16 p.m. Police charged a 45-year-old Bristol woman with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and second-degree breach of peace.

10:19 p.m. Police responded to a report of an alarm sounding at Prestige Landscaping on New Haven Road. Officer said the exterior of the building was secure, but an audible alarm was sounding inside the building.

FEB. 13, 2025

1:48 p.m. A caller reported a possible rabid raccoon was spotted downtown near Zois Pizza and Circuit Breakers on Main Street. Police said the raccoon was gone on arrival.

1:58 p.m. A caller told police that her vehicle was hit while parked in the Stop & Shop parking lot on Franklin Street.

2:03 p.m. Police assisted with a disabled tractor trailer near New Haven Road/Day Street.

3:09 p.m. Police received a walk-in complaint from a Frances Drive resident who said a check was stolen from his mailbox. 

4:40 p.m. A Moss Avenue resident reported that her child fell off a dresser onto the floor. The child sustained a laceration to the head and was transported to the hospital.

FEB. 14, 2025

7:04 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle crash on New Haven Road.

3:47 p.m. Animal control requested police assistance with dispatching a rabid raccoon on Woodside Avenue. 

5:04 p.m. Police charged a 20-year-old Seymour man with operating an unregistered vehicle, reckless driving, engaging police in pursuit, failure to insure vehicle and interfering with an officer/resisting arrest.

5:34 p.m. Police received a report of a roaming dog on Bungay Road, but police were unable to capture the dog.

FEB. 15, 2025

1 a.m. Police charged a 33-year-old Seymour woman for illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and failure to drive in the proper lane.

3:15 a.m. Police charged a 37-year-old Danbury man with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs.

5 a.m. Police received multiple 911 calls about a motor vehicle crash at Derby Avenue and Pine Street, with callers reporting a telephone pole was cut in half and wires were down. 

5:23 p.m. Police received a 911 hang-up call, which caller said was an accident.

10:32 p.m. A caller reported a male was trying to enter the buildings at Casagrande Field. Police said the man left the property with no issues. 

FEB. 16, 2025

(This was the day of the snow/ice storm, and police received multiple reports of downed trees, wires and debris blocking various roads in town, and reports of damage to cars)

2:11 a.m. A caller reported a manhole cover was in the road on Derby Avenue, which police were able to replace with no issues.

3:14 p.m. A caller reported a tree was down and blocking the road at New Haven Road and Cogwheel Lane. Police notified the state Dept. of Transportation.

4:11 a.m. A caller reported a tree was down and blocking the road at Sanford Street. Police notified the public works department.

5:53 a.m. Police received a report of downed wires that were sparking on Chaden Road. Eversource was called and responded to the scene.

12:58 p.m. A resident reported that a tree branch fell onto his car and shattered his windshield.

FEB. 17. 2025

8:20 a.m. Police were called about a low hanging wire in the area of Bungay Road and Canfield Road. Eversource was notified to remove limb from wire.

8:22 a.m. A caller reported he was stuck on ice in his vehicle.

12:16 p.m. An Evening Star Drive resident reported a downed phone/cable wire was lying across the road. 

12:55 p.m. Police received report of trees on power lines on lower portion of Buckingham Road.

7:54 p.m. Police received a 911 hang-up call, which police said was accidental.
