Seymour Police Department Calls For Service

SEYMOUR Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from May 26, 2025 through June 1, 2025.

It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.

Note: generally, this publication does not post the names of people charged with misdemeanors; the names of victims; or numbered residential addresses. If we publish a suspect’s name, we try to track the case in court.

Seymour police received 292 calls for service and made five arrests between May 26, 2025 and June 1, 2025.

MAY 26, 2025

7:11 a.m. A caller reported that a hawk was stuck in the nets near the track at Seymour High School. Police were able to free the hawk.

8:45 a.m. Police assisted the American Legion with Memorial Day services on the Bank Street bridge.

9:41 a.m. A Humphrey Street resident told police a car was blocking his driveway.

8:16 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a two-car motor vehicle crash on Maple Street.

MAY 27, 2025

2:22 a.m. Police charged a 27-year-old Derby man with evading responsibility, failure to drive in the proper lane, and interfering/resisting an officer.

10:19 a.m. Police assisted the animal control officer with an incident where rabbits and other animals were found abandoned and left on the side of the road at Silvermine and Haddad roads.

12:40 p.m. Police charged a 41-year-old Seymour man with disorderly conduct and interfering with an emergency call.

1:22 p.m. A Pearl Street resident told police he had video footage of someone throwing a firework at his vehicle.

7:10 p.m. A Lilac Drive resident reported to police that there was a raccoon with a peanut butter jar stuck on its head. Police said the raccoon walked into the woods and notified the animal control officer, who located the raccoon and removed the jar from its head.

MAY 28, 2025

11:36 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a minor motor vehicle crash near Bank and River streets.

2:45 p.m. A caller told police a group of teenagers were harassing customers at McDonald’s on Bank Street.

5:45 p.m. A Rimmon Street resident told police she found a stray dog with no collar. Police notified the animal control officer to follow up with the resident.

MAY 29, 2025

8:56 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle crash on Maple Street.

9:17 a.m. A caller told police a man wearing a white beanie was walking around the Stop & Shop parking lot on Franklin Street, taking pictures of cars. A second caller told police the same man approached her car and was looking inside. Police said the man was gone upon their arrival.

1:34 p.m. Police conducted one-way traffic enforcement on Bungay Road which is currently undergoing construction. 

8:03 p.m. Police assisted the fire department with two juveniles who fell off their bikes in the area of Bank and Martha streets.

MAY 30, 2025

9:23 a.m. A South Main Street resident told police that a contractor stole from him.

12:19 p.m. Police responded to the scene of minor motor vehicle accident in the Henny Penny gas station parking lot on New Haven Road (Route 67).

5:40 p.m. Police charged a 28-year old Seymour man with disorderly conduct and third-degree assault.

8:53 p.m. A caller reported two men were knocking on doors in the area of North Mead Farm and Nicklemine roads. Police said the men were gone upon their arrival.

MAY 31, 2025

12:28 a.m. A Kathy Drive resident told police someone with a flashlight was in her driveway, looking inside her vehicles. The resident told police nothing was taken from her cars and there was no damage. Police said the individual was gone upon their arrival.

8:52 a.m. A Maple Street resident reported that a car crashed into his front yard.

1:41 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a two-car motor vehicle crash at Bank and Franklin streets.

JUNE 1, 2025

2:04 a.m. Police received a complaint from a Maple Street resident about a tenant on the second-floor playing loud music for more than an hour.

7:07 a.m. Police received a 911 call about a female passed out in a vehicle in a parking lot on New Haven Road (Route 67). Police said the female was asleep in the car.

5:53 p.m. A caller reported that a black bear was walking around French Memorial Park on Spruce Street and was concerned about people’s safety at the park. People at the park told police they saw the bear exit the park on the north side, heading towards Route 8 on the North Main Street dead end.

8:10 p.m. A caller reported loud music was coming from the school grounds at Bungay School. Police said there were no issues.
