SEYMOUR — Police released a 7‑second video over the weekend showing the vehicle suspected of running down two senior citizens who had just paid their respects at a wake.
The video shows a vehicle speeding through the frame. Police are looking for a Acura MDX, possibly a model released between 2014 and 2016.
Anyone with information on the crime should call Seymour police at 203 – 881-7638.
According to police, Officer Dedrick Wilcox was stationed near the Ward-Miller Funeral Home on Friday evening (Dec. 10), where services were taking place.
James Tamborra and his wife, Barbara Tamborra, both 81, of Shelton, attempted to cross Bank Street (Route 67) at 6:05 p.m. with the help of Officer Wilcox, when a vehicle came barreling toward them.
Officer Wilcox signaled the vehicle to stop, to no avail, police said.
The vehicle nearly ran over the officer, then struck the Tamborras, police said.
James Tamborra died at Waterbury Hospital. Barbara Tamborra was listed in serious condition at St. Mary’s Hospital, according to a statement released from Seymour police at 5 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 11).

The vehicle was last seen traveling east, heading toward Route 8. Police described the vehicle as a dark SUV. There was evidence, presumably from the vehicle, left at the scene — and police have reviewed footage from cameras in the area.
Important — the vehicle has front-end damage, specifically to the driver’s side headlight and hood.
State police are assisting in the investigation.
Seymour Police Commander David Parratt is the primary investigator. Any witnesses or people with information should call him at (203) 881 7610 or on his cell phone at (203) 915‑2517.
