SEYMOUR — A local animal rescue group is looking for feline foster homes.
Seymour CARES is a nonprofit group — full name, Coco’s Animal Rescue Efforts of Seymour.
They care for cats and dogs that come to them if an owner surrenders an animal, or is taken into custody by local animal control officers.
The all-volunteer group care for and find homes for the dogs and cats in their shelter.
In addition, Seymour CARES helps to keep the feral feline population in check by trapping, neutering, and releasing cats.
“This means that we trap feral cats, spay or neuter them, provide medical care including vaccination, and release them back to their original environment,” the organization said in a press release.
But — if the cat’s original environment isn’t safe, or if the cat is deemed “friendly,” he or she is kept by the organization.
That’s where you come in:
“This leads us to our plea for fosters,” according to CARES. “We are a small organization that cannot do this alone. We need your help in order to help these cats. We need fosters who can house and socialize these ‘community’ cats.”
Experience with cats and a spare room are required.
