A Seymour school administrator sent an e‑mail to parents Friday saying police have been alerted to a case of a child who “may have been followed home after getting off the school bus” Wednesday afternoon.
Nancy Snopkowski, an associate superintendent with the school system, sent an e‑mail to parents Friday just before 1 p.m. with the following message:
“This is to make you aware that I was notified today that on Wednesday, January 30th it was reported to the Seymour Police Department by a resident in the area of Old Ansonia Road and Castle Lane that a Middle School child may have been followed home after getting off the school bus.”
Snopkowski’s message goes on:
“The person was a white male with white hair possibly driving a brown or tan Honda vehicle. Officers did respond to the area and no person or vehicle matching the description was located.
Bus company drivers in Seymour and Ansonia have been advised of what had occurred. Please remind your children to always be aware of their surroundings. If they see something suspicious to report it right away. If they feel they are being followed run back towards the bus and tell the bus driver or to a neighbor’s house to report the suspicious behavior to the Police.
Anyone who may have information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Seymour Police Department.”
The Police Department’s phone number is 203 – 881-7600.
Seymour Police Lt. Paul Satkowski said Friday he couldn’t yet divulge any information about the alleged incident.
“I’ll have to get back to you on details,” he said Friday.
