Residents of Seymour, Beacon Falls, and Derby will soon have the chance to vote to send representatives to Hartford. After what we have seen over the last several years, are we comfortable with the continued failed policies of the Malloy administration? Are we comfortable with the poor decision-making of the Democratic controlled majority? Are we comfortable with the same failures continuing for another two years? I certainly am not and I know many others are not. It is time for a change. That change starts with electing Nicole Klarides-Ditria as our state representative for the 105th district.
Nicole is the type of common sense person we need in Hartford. As a small business owner and the Deputy First Selectman of Seymour, Nicole will use her experience to tackle the dire fiscal crisis our state faces. Just as she helped Seymour get back on track, I know Nicole has the experience and ability to do the same for Connecticut.
In Seymour, Nicole and First Selectman Kurt Miller inherited a fiscal mess when they entered office in 2011. Under their leadership, they enacted a 5 Year Plan to improve the town’s overall fiscal health. The Plan lowered the town’s debt ratio, doubled the rainy day fund, made huge investments in our infrastructure, greatly improved the town’s standing with national rating agencies, and created a strong economic climate that residents and businesses can trust. They also created the structure for the 10 Year Strategic Plan that will lead Seymour into a bright future.
During this same period of time, the Connecticut’s fortunes have spiraled downward under the leadership of State Representative Theresa Conroy and Governor Dan Malloy. Representative Conroy and Governor Malloy raised taxes on residents, business owners, and hospitals to cover their out-of-control spending habits. They wiped out the state’s rainy day fund and have drastically increased our debt ratios to levels not seen before in the history of our state, thus greatly damaging our standing with national rating agencies. They also made devastating cuts to critical health care services, social services, and state vocational-technical schools. Their cuts hurt the people that need it the most.
The Conroy-Malloy agenda is neither working for the Valley nor Connecticut. It’s time for new leadership and a new direction in Hartford. That is why I am supporting Nicole Klarides-Ditria. Nicole will work for us and will stand up to Governor Malloy’s destructive policies and atrocious leadership. Vote for Nicole Klarides-Ditria on November 8th.
