SEYMOUR — The Seymour Board of Selectmen met Tuesday and awarded a $1.4 million bid to reconstruct some of the roads within The Silvermine Commerce and Technology Park (formerly known as The Silvermine Industrial Park before the town changed the name in 2016).
The bid was awarded to B & W Construction of Watertown, the lowest of five bidders.
Assuming the contract and paperwork are completed in a timely matter, the work could begin within a month and be completed by October, Seymour Town Engineer Bryan Nesteriak told the Selectmen during the meeting.

Roads that will be repaired and paved include a portion of Cogwheel Lane, Silvermine Road from the area of the Thule facility to Haddad Road, and all of Progress Avenue. Some improvements will also be made to the intersection of Silvermine Road and Route 67, an intersection where heavy trucks often bottom-out turning from Route 67.

The town has about $3.6 million in road bond money to fix roads elsewhere.
During the meeting each member of the Board of Selectmen also congratulated the Seymour High School Class of 2020, who ended school under difficult circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
They also credited state and local officials for a recent fresh-farm produce giveaway recently held outside the Derby High School/Middle School campus.
