Seymour Sets Aside Space To Express Sandy Hook Grief

The Town of Seymour is allowing a temporary memorial for the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting to be set up outside Seymour Town Hall at 1 First St.

The idea was proposed by Selectwoman Karen Stanek at Wednesday’s Board of Selectman meeting.

She said some residents had approached her looking for a spot in town to express their grief and condolences for the 20 children and six staffers killed inside the Newtown school Dec. 14.

The memorial will be in front of a statue of two children in front of town hall. People will be able to leave items such as candles, flowers and stuffed animals.

The memorial will be maintained each day. It will be permitted until the end of the first week of January.
