The Seymour Police Department will again host its Citizens Police Academy this winter.
The department is accepting applications to the program until Jan. 10. The academy will begin on Jan. 12.
Seating is limited to the first 30 applicants, ages 18 and older.
The citizens academy is a 12-week program that teachers civilians about police work. Sessions include crime scene investigation, driving laws and separate demonstrations about the K‑9 unit and the department’s firearms.

The course is held every Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Seymour Police Department.
Registration is free, but is subject to a background check.
