The American Legion Post No. 10 in conjunction with The Town of Seymour, is holding a Rededication and Lighting Ceremony of the Civil War Statue in French Memorial Park in Seymour.
The ceremony will take place on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Soldiers’ Monument in the park.
Refreshments will be available for purchase, or residents can bring their own picnic. Lawn chairs are welcome.
The monument is significant historically because it is the tangible symbol of the desire of the Seymour community to honor and pay respects to its men who served in the Union armed forces during the Civil War. The original Dedication Day was held on June 11, 1904.
Come and join the festivities and be a part of the proud citizens of Seymour who will honor our dedicated servicemen who fought valiantly during the Civil War.
