Shakespeare In The (Shelton) Park Planned For July

A new organization, the Valley Shakespeare Festival, is bringing live Shakespeare to Shelton!

On July 18 to 20, at 8 p.m., for three shows only, a company of professional, amateur and student players will perform that madcap farce about mistaken identity, The Comedy of Errors,” in beautiful Veterans Memorial Park.

If an actor yourself, auditions are taking place Saturday (May 4) at the Shelton Community Center, 41 Church St., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Click here for more information on the auditions.

The July performances will free to the public — imagine that! What could be better than relaxing by the majestic Housatonic River while enjoying a live performance of a classic comedy under the stars on a soft, mid-summer night?

And this is only the beginning. With the community’s support we can make this kind of event a recurring centerpiece of Shelton’s cultural landscape, offering a different work every summer and, perhaps in time, even adding more productions throughout the year.

We are currently seeking sponsors to help us make this vision a reality in perpetuity. Contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent permitted by law through our 501©3 tax-exempt certification.
