The City of Shelton is like a business and the CEO relies on the Finance Department to issue financial reports on a timely basis. The citizens of the City of Shelton have elected the eight members who sit on the Board of Aldermen, who by charter act as the financial authority of the city.
A three-member committee is chosen to act as the Finance Committee, who act as the board’s auditors.
Yet in the last year, January to October 2013, eight meetings have been canceled, two special, and one regular meeting were called by the chairman.
Is the finance committee reviewing the monthly check register, asking questions and then voting to approve?
If you sit on the Finance Committee of the Board of Education, this is done monthly.
I wonder, if the city was doing this maybe the problem facing the city might not have to be solved in a court of law?
