Shelton American Legion Post Wins Awards

CONTRIBUTEDShelton’s Sutter-Terlizzi American Legion Post 16 was recognized at the Department of Connecticut American Legion Convention July 7 and presented with awards for Greatest membership in the state by mid year, Best work in youth activities, Best high school oratorical contest program, Greatest contribution to the display, promotion, presentation and education for the flag, Most outstanding Americanism program, and Most-all inclusive post activities and programs.

Post 16 Chaplain Walter Bills was also recognized as the American Legion Department of Connecticut Chaplain of the Year.

Post Officers for 2016 – 2017 are: Commander David Gallagher, Sr. Vice Commander James Halligan Sr., Jr Vice Commander Tom Fascio, Adjutant Al Sabetta, Finance Officer Ken Hagen, Service Officer Bill Kozak, Chaplain Walter Bills, Sargent-at-Arms Mike Kellett and Historian Al Kovalik.

The post is active in many local and statewide programs for Americanism, including High School Oratorical Competition, American Legion Baseball, Boys State and Girls State, and Flag Education programs.
