Justin Bonner, the Stratford man accused of kidnapping and assaulting a Cumberland Farms employee, will be arraigned at Superior Court in Derby today.
Bonner, 24, was charged with first-degree kidnapping and first-degree assault Wednesday morning.
Shelton police said Bonner allegedly kidnapped a 46-year-old female clerk from the Cumberland Farms on River Road in Shelton early Tuesday.
The victim was found severely beaten, a couple miles away from the shop at about 4 a.m. Tuesday, when she sough help from a resident in the neighborhood near Sunnyside School.
Police on Tuesday released a surveillance photo of the suspect, and multiple people called and identified the person as Bonner, according to Sgt. Robert Kozlowsky.
Bonner was arrested at his Stratford home at about 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Police said more charges could be pending, and the investigation is still underway.
“This was great police work,” said Chief Joel Hurliman Thursday morning, after Bonner was transported from the Shelton Police Department, where he was held at $750,000 bond, to the court for his arraignment.
