SHELTON — Detectives announced the arrest Wednesday of two men suspected in a string of commercial burglaries in the area.
Adis Kacar, 36, of Bridgeport, is charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, three counts of larceny, and three counts of criminal mischief.
Daniel Girdzis, 36, of East Haven, is charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, two counts of conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny, and two counts of conspiracy to commit criminal mischief.
According to Shelton police, Kacar and Girdzis are responsible for late-night commercial burglaries between December 2020 and February 2021.
The burglaries included the Cumberland Farms at 464 River Road; the Dunkin Donuts at 733 Bridgeport Ave., and; Ardo Liquor store at 443 River Road.
“In all the burglaries, forced entry was made by prying the front door and cash and cigarettes were stolen. Similar burglaries were committed in several area towns in the same time frame,” according to a prepared statement sent by Detective Richard Bango.
Police departments from Fairfield and New Haven counties teamed to investigate the crimes and developed the two men as suspects.
Both men are being held on $50,000 bonds pending future court dates.
