This past weekend, the Southern CT Pop Warner Championships were held in New Haven.
Over 40 Cheerleading squads from around the state competed to earn a place at the New England Regional Qualifiers in Springfield, MA. Teams must place in the top two in their division in order to advance.
The Junior Pee Wee, Pee Wee and Midget teams from Shelton all qualified and are going to be competing in Springfield. At qualifiers, Shelton will compete with teams from around New England, with the goal of advancing to Regional Championships the following weekend.
The winning teams from Regionals earn a spot at the Pop Warner National Championships held annually at Disney’s Wide Word of Sports Complex in Orlando. In 2010 Shelton Pop Warner won National Championships in the Pee Wee and Midget cheerleading divisions.
Shelton Tiny Mite and Mitey Mite cheerleaders also performed routines at the event, however, these younger divisions do not compete. That said, after their stellar performances they will no doubt carry on the winning tradition of Shelton Pop Warner Cheerleading.
