Shelton Student Gets CRRA Scholarship

Lauren D’Aulizio, a senior at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, has been awarded the 2011 CRRA Shelton Scholarship.

The $1,000 CRRA Shelton Scholarship is awarded annually to one Shelton resident studying engineering or the sciences at an accredited four-year college. Preference is given to a student who declares a major in environmental or energy fields.

D’Aulizio is majoring in environmental Earth science and has a 2.92 GPA (on a 4.0 scale). She graduated from Shelton High School in 2007.

Outside of school, D’Aulizio’s community service record includes volunteering with Town Wide Town Pride, Safe Trick-or-Treating, the Willimantic Soup Kitchen and other organizations in Willimantic.

The CRRA Shelton Scholarship is available through a special arrangement with the Sports Center of Connecticut located at 784 River Road in Shelton.

The Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority is a quasi-public agency whose mission is to work for – and in – the best interests of the municipalities of the state of Connecticut. CRRA develops and implements environmentally sound solutions and best practices for solid waste disposal and recycling management on behalf of municipalities.
