Panchero’s on Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton is like a Mexican food Subway sandwich shop — and we love it!
The best option at Panchero’s is the burrito!
These fully customizable wraps can be filled with your choice of chicken, steak, carnitas and vegetables, or any combination of those.
On top of that you can add: rice, beans (black or pinto), queso, cheese, pico de gallo, salsa (hot or mild), corn, sour cream and guacamole.
With all of their powers combined, this adds up to one hell of a burrito. A giant burrito at that!
The restaurant is clean, but doesn’t offer much for authentic Mexican décor.
You can chose from booths, small tables, or those cool high tables with bar chairs which allow you to look down into females shirts!
The look isn’t all that important though because it’s just a fast food restaurant minus the drive-thru.
Panchero ‘s is a near perfect restaurant.
There are only two flaws holding it back from a perfect score.
First, beware of the manager when ordering. You can tell he has an eye on the profit margins by the way he skimps on the toppings.
Second, they do not do nearly enough to progress the art of the burrito. All the toppings are very basic.
On a recent trip to San Francisco I had a burrito with a spinach wrap, red snapper, pineapple and curry.
It truly pushed the limits of Burritology!
You will find nothing like that at Panchero’s, but with a little effort they could do it.
