Shelton Dog Euthanized After Suspected Coyote Attack

A Shelton resident’s dog was euthanized after a suspected coyote attack last week, the Shelton Patch reported Tuesday.

Animal Control Officer Sheryl Taylor told the Patch that a Saranor Drive resident let his two-year-old Bichon mix about 5:30 a.m. and later heard the dog yelp, after which he brought it to a vet.

The veterinarian reportedly told the pet owner that the bites were comparable to a coyote,” according to the Patch, and the dog had to be euthanized.

Taylor recommended walking small dogs on a leash instead of letting them out of the house unsupervised.
