When Shelton firefighters set out to organize a head-shaving event to raise money for childhood cancer research, they set a goal of $3,000.
The fundraiser took place Saturday (July 14). The firefighters didn’t meet their goal — they annihilated it.
“Including the money we raised at the event, our total was $7,477,” said Mark Starzecki, a firefighter from Huntington Fire Co. 3 who organized the event. “We had a great turnout.”
